African Community Education

"...I started the [ACE] program knowing only a little English but now here I am speaking, writing and reading in English. ACE has great teachers that are always there when you need help. No matter what kind of problem you have someone is there to help you. If you feel like you are not safe ACE is there. Right now I've moved onto higher grade levels and I'm doing better in school because of ACE. ACE has been there for me no matter what."

"I started attending ACE about a year and a half ago. At first I was not interested in ACE, but since I started making friends here, I started to realize ACE is like a family to me. The word ACE means family to me because there are a lot of people from different countries in Africa who I didn't think I would ever see. But ACE is like a connector that connects us with each other. Things that we do here includes helping students with their homework, learning to be a good student, focusing on our goals and getting ready for college. I want to thank ACE for their hard work because of the better future it will give us."

"...I've been [at ACE] for four years....ACE to me is like my safe home because it keeps me from getting into fights and arguments that I usually have with my other friends.  My favourite thing about ACE is that we have the Spring Festival.  The reasons why I like the Spring Festival is that it expresses the culture of the African Americans."
